Esperance, the beach they call a town

It’s a small place, 14.500 or so live here, the rest, just beach people. There is nothing going on now since it’s late, but this beach is so popular around here its not uncommon for Aussies to drive hundreds of kilometres just to get here. As I’m writing this I can hear the waves rushing onto the beach just 50 meters from here. I can’t see it, its too dark, but the sound has a calming effect, I miss the ocean every time I’m away from it.
The drive here from Denmark was about 550 km, a long way but I have by now leaned the routine with breaks and drinking and eating. Also the earplugs, to say they help is an understatement.
I met quite a few bikers along the way, both departing in Denmark, but also on route. I meet them and the petrol stations and talking with them all though they are complete strangers seems like the most natural thing in the world. One “gang” in particular was funny, a group of men, I would guess them to be early sixties, 3 massive Harleys, a big BWM and a Ducati. One guys explains to me about a small detour on the Nullabor that will lead me to wombats, one of his mates says out loud “your looking at one right now”, laughs all around Smiley. Another guy I met at another petrol station looked to be an old biker wearing a beat/up old leather jacket, told me I should not expect to see many kangaroos on the Nullarbor because its been raining, that makes them scatter a bit. He had been working there for some years so he should know, but I guess I’ll have to go see for my self Smiley, der blinker
Tomorrow I’ll get on the road early, I have around 630 km to cover before I hit the roadhouse Cocklebiddy. Day after it’s on to Bookabie, about 660 km, and then next stop is Port Lincoln, a mere 500 km stretch. I hope there will be some Internet in the roadhouses, but I can’t be sure, and I'm not sure my phone will provide me coverage, so in case you don’t hear from me for a few days, I’m just out counting miles Smiley, der blinker
To keep you entertained I put together a silly little video of the drive to Denmark from the viewpoint of a helmet camera, enjoy.
