Margaret Rain

I arrived last night in Margaret River, wet and cold. I dressed for warm weather, meaning all the air vents were open and wearing almost nothing underneath the protective gear. That worked great for the first few hours, but then the rain started and kept me company for the last hour going into Margaret River :/ At first it was fun, but with the powerful winds and sudden drop in temperature the fun was soon replaced with determination and dreams of a warm shower.

Coming into town the first thing I looked for was a hotel, no tent sleeping for me tonight. The rain had subsided and even though I was still wet, just knowing that soon I would have a room, made me feel much better. Just a bit of driving around found me a hotel and I hadn’t stayed there for more than five minutes before I melted under the shower.
The drive up had given me a headache, likely because I didn't wear earplugs, and was tensing up due to the cold. I had intended to update the blog yesterday but between the headache and a dodgy Internet I couldn’t be bothered and just went to bed early.

Mango and Banana drink, sooo good.
Today, on the date 12-12-12 (I like it when dates do that) is a much better day. I originally intended to just stay the night, but I have time so I extended the stay till tomorrow morning. Not far from here is a camping store and I went there first thing in the morning to get a sleeping back and a full rain suite. I had something called a breaki burger for breakfast, its basically just your ol’ bacon and egg sandwich, and went for a stroll around town in my new rain gear.
Got some earplugs and Advil at the pharmacy, and now I’m sitting in a cafe, had a hot chocolate, now treated myself to some tapas and a glass of the local wine, waiting for my laundry do finish. Things could not be better, I just hope the weather will allow me to leave for Denmark tomorrow. I do love it here but I would like to get on my way.

Cool story: 37000 years ago the Wardandi came to these parts. They where hunter gathers and had a close attachment to the land around them, not unlike most of the indigenous people in Ausatria. Around those times Margaret River was known as Wooditchup, and it is said that medicin man Woodytche fell in love with Milyan, daughter of Ngoongargoot who was promissed to his brother Ngorable.
Wooditchup and Milyan ran away but were followed by her father. Woodytche used his magic to summen a great river between them, but they wer cought at the river mouth, so he turned Ngoongargoot into a groper. Milyan was very sad to loose her father and Woodytche felt sorry for what he had done, and transformed the groper back to her father.
Ngoongargoot then approved the union of the two lovers, and this river is tody know as Margaret River.
I will leave you with this small video of me pretending that the camera loves me Smiley, der blinker, and a few pictures. Catch ya later.
